Several people on my LJ flist are watching Due South, and they keep trying to TALK to me about it, and that way lies flailing and flappy hands and desperately trying to explain my Benton Fraser Problem and why I can't talk about him to ANYONE because I am not rational about the character, everyone else's thoughts on him are WRONG, and I never made it past episode 2.02 anyway because of points 1 and 2.
Being a high-strung fangirl is *hard*.
Though it occurs to me that this is kind of similar to my Jason Todd Problem. And my Fred Problem. And this is leading inescapably to the conclusion that *I* am the one with the problem, but fuck the haters, they're all just wrong, that's all. | | Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 | | 10:09 am |
I'm trying to write a fic in third-person objective, and can anyone remind me why I thought that was a good idea? ::stares at file:: Sometimes my desire to be clever far outstrips my technical adeptness.
My boss has decided to come in something like two hours late today, for reasons I don't understand and don't entirely care about. So I'm staring at this fic and wishing I had some coffee instead of doing work. Good good. | | Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 | | 10:28 am |
Likeadeuce is trying to get me to read Immortal Iron Fist, so I've been doing a little reading around about it, trying to decide what I think. I put the trades on my Amazon wishlist mainly on the strength of the fact that nine times out of ten, blurbs about any issue or trade of this comic seem to throw an exclamation point in there every time they say the name, making the full name of the comic, in my opinion, "Immortal Iron Fist!"
I like that. It makes it seem bouncy.
...well, this was random. | | Saturday, September 13th, 2008 | | 11:06 pm |

Ah, ha ha, I'm doing data entry for people we've called and annoyed lately, and we called one James Barnes. <3 He's leaning toward my candidate, rock on.
...it amused ME, anyway, though nobody else in the office understood why I was giggling. | | Monday, September 8th, 2008 | | 4:47 pm |

Rec: Daedalus by likeadeuce. It's Steve and Tony, but mostly Steve (and a wonderful Steve it is), and his view of Tony is unsparing and sharp. This line, in particular, hit me like a punch: Your war. Steve wonders if Tony realizes how odd that possessive seems. In the world Steve remembers, the world that still feels like it was only a few weeks ago, it was everybody's war. | | Friday, August 22nd, 2008 | | 10:38 pm |
Just read Robin 177. My response is entirely predictable.
:)
Comics renaissance is fun. Definitely Jason-fic on the docket once I finish The Order fic for Likeadeuce. Yay. | | 2:49 pm |
Okay, it's up over here: Fletching. ::falls over:: | | Thursday, August 21st, 2008 | | 11:50 pm |
Katefic is back from beta! Sadly, I am too tired to do editing tonight, but tomorrow! It will be posted tomorrow. And then I will have to come up with something else to angst about working on. Perhaps something with Jason. Because I miss him. Current Mood: sleepy | | Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 | | 9:42 pm |
Likeadeuce sent me a present! Batman: The New Adventures 408, 410, and 416! Wee baby Jason Todd stealing tires! Discowing!
I'm kind of squeaking and waving them around in the air. | | Monday, August 4th, 2008 | | 12:10 am |
I'm not sure that writing a long, semi-intense scene with Kate and Clint was wise, given that my entire characterization of Clint is based on YA Presents #6, but I did it anyway. HA.
Which is to say, worked on the Katefic tonight. Three of six scenes are written. I think I have a decent grasp on where this thing is going, so that's nice. And Kate's really talking to me, so I'm going to run with it while I've got it.
That is, I'll run with it *tomorrow*, if she's still talking to me then. Because must sleep now. Stupid "having to get up and go to work in the morning"...thing. | | Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 | | 9:24 pm |

Tonight's comicstore_news issue involved going back skip=250.
I don't think it's healthy to read headers for that many horrible, awful, irredeemable Joker rapefics in one sitting, you guys.

I've only been awake for an hour and the Internet has provided me with plenty of WTF for the day. I'm SO CRANKY this morning. Forgive me. * A review of Kavalier and Clay that manages to miss the point by about 600 miles. I have a feeling that this person wouldn't recognize subtlety if it walked up and bit her. /snobby * There's a Batverse (all versions) anonymous kink meme going on over on LJ, so I looked to see if there was any Jason in there, but then I had to click away because there were things like "What. This hasn't been suggested yet?!
Pairing: Anyone / Two Face (Nolanverse or otherwise, but I Nolanverse makes it easiest) Kink: Did somebody say facefuck?"Between that and the one about wanting "Joker giving it to Batman/Bruce doggystyle," I ended up saying to Likeadeuce in IM "Fandom, I think I might be getting tired of you." Grumble. Second_batgirl on LJ is running a DC/Marvel crossover ficathon. I'm tempted to throw in a request for a story where Jason Todd got resurrected as Cap's sidekick, but that might be a little too much, and also I'm not signing up for stuff right now until Yuletide. Some of the prompts so far are kind of interesting. Possibly a shower would help my perspective on the universe. Current Mood: cranky | | Thursday, July 24th, 2008 | | 8:46 pm |

Young Avengers canon question...I'm trying to write the Katefic for femgenficathon and I can't remember *anything*, sigh. They don't all go to the same school, right? In fact, they all go to different schools?
Kate and Billy are insisting on being BFFs. I don't know if that lines up with canon or not but I'm too tired to fight with it. I seem to vaguely remember that writing can be fun instead of awkward and painful, but don't quote me on that. | | Saturday, July 19th, 2008 | | 9:05 pm |
I was just thinking today that it was roughly two years ago now-ish (July '06, anyway) that I went to WriterCon. Which I bring up because I needed plane reading for that, and I took both trades of Under the Hood for the purpose. I read them both on the way there and spent a good chunk of time during the con trying to get my roommates to read them. Likeadeuce gave it a try, but she was just getting deep into the Marvel world then and she didn't really have the extra brainspace for something new. Nobody else really seemed to get what I was getting out of it, though they were all very nice about it. Anyway. I was thinking about that today. And that I miss Jason Todd. I loaned my UtH trades to a friend and she hasn't given them back yet, so I can't re-read, which is a bummer. Maybe if I gently prod at my brain enough I could write something. Because Jason, and the Batfamily-with-Jason, trying to reconcile all the shades of him, is awesome. Current Mood: tired | | Sunday, July 13th, 2008 | | 9:47 pm |
The Marvelous Tales challenge over on LJ is open for prompt-claiming; some of them are quite cool and made me think of you guys. I'm tempted by the Young Avengers genderswap (girl!Patriot and girl!Hulkling especially intrigue me), but I have no time no time no time at all. Sigh. Anyway, even if you're not feeling challenge-y, some of them might be fun to discuss, if you'd like. |
